Dino, the "chef of the poor": at 90 he cooks for the homeless and puts a smile on their faces
published on 28 February, 2020 at 10:51
He is known as the chef of the poor and has been feeding about 300 homeless people in Rome for more than 10 years. One day, passing through Tuscolana station, he offered a sandwich to a homeless man. From that moment on, his life changed forever. Despite being 90 years old, Dino has never stopped for a single moment. He wakes up every morning at 6:00 and goes around all bakeries and greengrocers so as to stock up on enough food to give the most needy. In this way, Dino's mission entered the kitchens of Roman houses. So, step by step, this led to the birth of RomAmoR, a non-profit organization that since 2006 carries out social work to help the poor and elderly people. Many people are willing to donate food and their time to help Dino in his mission. But the greatest satisfaction for Dino is seeing the smile on the faces of the most needy people. Even Sergio Mattarella, the President of Italy, saw Dino’s big heart and appointed him Commander of Merit of the Italian Republic.
