Yeast bread with custard: everyone will love this Catalan dessert

It's called St John's cake and is a typical dessert of Catalonia. In Spain it is eaten in the summer but it is so beautiful and delicious that it should be tried all year round.
Ingredients:
Dough:
500g all-purpose flour
2 eggs
100g sugar
100ml milk
80g margarine
15g active dry yeast
Orange rind
pinch of salt
1 teaspoon orange extract
Custard
Candied fruit
Pine nuts

100g sugar
100ml milk

Directions:
Put flour, eggs, sugar, milk, margarine, yeast in a mixer and mix well. Then add orange rind, salt and orange extract. Let rise until doubled in size.
Roll out the dough and make cuts on the surface, let stand 20 minutes.
Fill with the custard and bake at 180°C (360°F) for 20 minutes.
