Tanghulu: the caramelized fruit skewers recipe from China!

This tanghulu recipe highlights delicious crunchy candied strawberries or other fruit made popular as a favorite Chinese street food!
 
INGREDIENTS
10 strawberries
10 single green grapes
10 raspberries
400 g (2 cups) sugar
250 ml (1 cup) water
 
METHOD
  1. Clean berries and pat them dry completely.
  2. Thread the berries in bamboo skewers.
  3. In a saucepan combine sugar and water and set over medium heat.
  4. Bring the syrup to a boil, then reduce to simmering and cook until it reaches 150C/300F. This will take about 15 minutes.
  5. Keep the heat low, tilt your pan and dip the berries to cover. For longer skewers pour some syrup on top with a spoon. Drop off any excess syrup.
  6. Place on a plate to finish hardening.
