INGREDIENTS

For meatballs:

500g ground beef

2 eggs

150g chopped cabbage

3 tbsp vegetable oil

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 onion, minced
3 tbsp all purpose flour

1 tsp sea salt

1 tsp black pepper

1 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp dried thyme

1 tbsp chopped parsley

For puree:

5 medium potatoes, cooked and mashed

50g shredded cheese

3 tbsp milk

1/2 tsp ground allspice

1 tsp sea salt

pinch of dried mint

For topping:

Bechamel sauce

100g shredded cheese

freshly chopped parsley (for serving)

METHOD

Place potatoes into a pot with hot water, cover with a lid and boil until cooked.
Meanwhile, in a large bowl combine all ingredients for meatballs. Use your hands to mix the ingredients until evenly combined, be careful not to over-mix the mixture.
Shape the meat mixture into 8 large oval shapes and arrange them in a greased casserole dish. Make an indentation on top of each with your fingers.
Mash cooked potatoes until smooth. Add shredded cheese, milk, allspice, sea salt, dried mint and mix until well combined.
Shape potato mixture into 8 oval shapes and place on top of each meatball.
Pour a spoon of bechamel on each meatball and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
Bake in the preheated to 180C/360F oven for 1 hour.
Serve sprinkled with freshly chopped parsley and enjoy!
