Meatballs and potatoes with bechamel: delicious and cheesy, you must try these!

INGREDIENTS
For meatballs:
500g ground beef
2 eggs
150g chopped cabbage
3 tbsp vegetable oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 onion, minced
3 tbsp all purpose flour
3 tbsp all purpose flour
1 tsp sea salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp dried thyme
1 tbsp chopped parsley
For puree:
5 medium potatoes, cooked and mashed
50g shredded cheese
3 tbsp milk
1/2 tsp ground allspice
1 tsp sea salt
pinch of dried mint
For topping:
Bechamel sauce
100g shredded cheese
freshly chopped parsley (for serving)
METHOD
- Place potatoes into a pot with hot water, cover with a lid and boil until cooked.
- Meanwhile, in a large bowl combine all ingredients for meatballs. Use your hands to mix the ingredients until evenly combined, be careful not to over-mix the mixture.
- Shape the meat mixture into 8 large oval shapes and arrange them in a greased casserole dish. Make an indentation on top of each with your fingers.
- Mash cooked potatoes until smooth. Add shredded cheese, milk, allspice, sea salt, dried mint and mix until well combined.
- Shape potato mixture into 8 oval shapes and place on top of each meatball.
- Pour a spoon of bechamel on each meatball and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
- Bake in the preheated to 180C/360F oven for 1 hour.
- Serve sprinkled with freshly chopped parsley and enjoy!
