SANDWICH BREAD CAKE: the cheesy, gooey one-dish meal!

INGREDIENTS (25x18 cm baking dish)
300g sandwich bread
300ml milk
2 eggs
200g mortadella
200g edam cheese
A pinch of salt
50g butter
Breadcrumbs, as needed
METHOD
1. In a large bowl, add the eggs, milk, and a pinch of salt.
2. Whisk until smooth and well combined.
3. Quickly dip a slice of bread into the mixture, making sure it is evenly soaked.
4. Place the soaked bread in the baking dish to form a layer, then add a layer of mortadella and a layer of Edam cheese.
5. Continue layering, finishing with a final layer of soaked bread.
6. Sprinkle the top generously with breadcrumbs and add a few cubes of butter.
7. Bake at 200°C/390°F for about 20 minutes.
