“Alis”, the Milanese focaccia shop where you can order in sign language
published on 11 March, 2020 at 13:40
In Segrate, Milan, you’ll find a really special focaccia shop run by Alice, a young woman who has been deaf since birth and communicates with her customers through sign language. She has always had the dream of running her own business and after graduating from art school, she created "Alis Focacceria” in a few months. Besides tasting great focaccias and pizzas, in her restaurant you can also learn sign language. To help her customers, Alis decided to include two large pictures at the entrance where she explains how to order in Italian Sign Language.
Of course there have been some difficulties, but luckily, Alice has never been alone in this adventure. She has wonderful people around her who have allowed her to realize her greatest dream. Today, thanks to her tenacity and determination, her focaccia shop is crowded with people who are eager to learn sign language while enjoying a delicious stuffed focaccia.
