Fried puff pastry buns: perfect for a delicious breakfast!

Fried puff pastry buns are a stunning morning treat, with layers of rich, flaky puff pastry dough swirled with a fragrant sugar mixture!

INGREDIENTS
 2 ½ cup flour;
 1 tbsp dry yeast;
 a pinch of salt;
 1 egg;
 200 ml (7 oz) warm milk;
 2 tbsp vegetable oil;
 1 cup melted butter;
 vegetable oil for frying;
 powdered sugar for serving.
 
METHOD
  1.  To make the dough whisk salt and yeast into a large bowl with flour. Add an egg, some vegetable oil, and warm milk.
  2. Work the dough until smooth (around 10 minutes), then cover and set aside for an hour.
  3.  Divide the dough into 7 pieces and roll each one out as thin as possible (it should get transparent).
  4.  Cover your working surface with a portion of melted butter and place the first sheet of the dough on it. Stretch a little, brush with butter and add another layer of the dough on top, stretching it out to fit the first one.
  5.  Continue with leftover dough. Cut the layers making 8 rectangles. Pinch both sides of each rectangle, stretch a little and make a tube. Roll both ends of the tube moving into the center as shown in the video.
  6.  Fry each “bun” in preheated vegetable oil until golden, then serve dusted with powdered sugar.
