French onion soup: a recipe to try

Ingredients:
1 tbsp oil
2 tbsp butter
5-6 onions
salt
black pepper
½ tsp sugar
2 tbsp flour
2/3 cup apple cider or red wine
8 cups vegetable or beef broth
thyme
baguette crostini
grated cheese
Directions:
Cut the onions and pout the in a saucepot with oil and butter. Cook for 15 minutes. Then add salt, pepper and sugar. Cook for an additional 30 minutes. Then add the flour and the broth. Coon for an additional 30 minutes. Pour in the bowls and top with crostini and cheese. Bake at 375°F (190°) until cheese is melted.
