published on 12 April, 2023 at 16:51
INGREDIENTS
330g (2 ⅝ cups) bread flour
30g (2 ½ tbsp) sugar
2g (1 tsp) salt
10g (1 ¼ tbsp) powdered milk
200ml (⅘ cup) lukewarm milk
2 egg yolks
3g (1 tsp) dry yeast
25g (2 tbsp) soft butter
METHOD
1. In one bowl whisk warm milk with sugar, yolks, and yeast.
2. In another bowl combine flour with powdered milk and salt.
3. Pour liquids into dry ingredients and mix the dough with your hands until it comes together, then knead with dough hooks for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
4. Add softened butter to the dough and continue kneading for 5-7 minutes more.
5. Cover and let it rise for 1 hour.
6. Cut the dough into 8 pieces, roll each into a ball, and set aside for 15 minutes more.
7. Finally, roll out each ball into an oval and roll again to form a cigar. Place each dough roll into a baking pan and brush with butter. Set aside for 40 minutes or until doubled in size. Brush with butter and sprinkle with icing sugar before baking the bread for 20 minutes at 170°C/340°F.
