Italian pizzeria donates pizzas to elderly during Coronavirus: “You’re not alone”
published on 6 April, 2020 at 21:42
An oven that hasn't stopped burning since 1937, providing pizza, bread and biscuits every day for all the elderly who have been alone at their homes for days. That's how the pizzeria Pepe in Grani in Caserta, Italy, decided to deal with coronavirus. In times like these, when the elderly lack the hug of a grandson, the caress of a son or the joy of a Sunday family lunch, Franco Pepe tries to cheer them up with his pizza. So, every morning, Franco goes to his pizzeria - a second home for him - and carries out his mission along with his staff. With love and humility, Franco Pepe has always supported the many social projects of his city so that everyone, at least once, has the opportunity to smile and feel good. To him, the smiles and satisfaction of the elderly are the real victory. As they open the door and find a hot pizza, they can feel the warmth that these days had been lacking. So, they can experience a moment of light-heartedness while savoring pizza, the queen of food. Besides this noble initiative, Franco is also giving valuable help to the Civil Hospital of Caserta to which he has already donated 1 respirator and about 40 masks for doctors. Among those who have noticed Franco's big heart there’s Dr. Ascierto, who in these days is working for the testing of a drug to treat Coronavirus. As the wood of that oven never ceases to burn, Franco Pepe is willing to win this battle, so the whole world can soon taste his delicious pizza again.
