Frying meatballs: an irresistible appetizer to try!

You won't be able to stop at one!
INGREDIENTS

300g minced beef
2 cloves garlic, minced
15ml (1 tbsp) ginger extract
15ml (1 tbsp) mayonnaise
2g (1 tsp) red pepper flakes
3g (1/2 tsp) salt
1g (1/2 tsp) black pepper
60g (1/2 cup) tempura powder
60g (1/2 cup) corn starch
125ml (1/2 cup) cold water
Vegetable oil (for frying)
METHOD
- In a bowl combine meat, garlic, ginger extract, mayo, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper.
- Form small meatballs from the prepared mixture.
- In another bowl mix tempura powder with corn starch. Reserve 40g (1/3 cup) of this mixture. Add water and stir to obtain a soft batter.
- Dust a plate with the reserved mixture and place meatballs on top. Shake the plate to make meatballs moving in the coating. Continue until all of the meatballs are well-coated.
- Dip coated meatballs in the batter.
- Heat oil over medium heat. When hot, add meatballs and fry for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Take them out of the pan and place on paper towels to drain off any excess fat for 5 minutes.
- Return meatballs to the pan with hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes more.
- Serve and enjoy!
