Baked onion bread: the perfect alternative to usual bread!

Just pour the onions into the batter and the result will be amazing!

INGREDIENTS

450 g (15 oz) flour;

220 ml (7.4 oz) warm water;

1 tsp salt;

1 tbsp yeast;

1 tbsp vegetable oil;

2 tbsp butter;

1 large white onion, sliced;

1 large purple onion, sliced.

METHOD

Melt butter over medium heat and use it to saute both types of sliced onion until soft and slightly brown. Let cool down.
Activate the yeast by combining it with sugar and warm water. Set aside until foam forms on the surface.
Mix flour with salt, add yeast solution and oil in. Knead until the dough is smooth.
Mix onion into the dough, form it into a ball and set aside for 1 hour.
Divide into 4 portions and roll each one out into a disk. Use 4 toothpicks to make small holes in the dough.
Bake at 230C/450F for 20 minutes. You can brush them with butter while they are still hot.
