Custard and strawberry pie: the delicious spring dessert to be prepared in a few steps!

INGREDIENTS
For the batter:
400g (3 1/4 cups) flour
150g (3/4 cup) sugar
150g (3/5 cup) butter
2 eggs
5 ml (1 tsp) vanilla essence
For the filling:
250g (1 1/4 cups) strawberries, chopped
500ml (2 cups) milk
Strip of lemon peel
2 eggs
80g (1/3 cup) sugar
70g (2/3 cup) flour
METHOD
- In a bowl combine all dry batter ingredients and stir well.
Add softened butter, eggs, and vanilla essence, and crumble the dough with your hands until you get a sandy pastry. - Press half of the pastry on the bottom of a 24cm sprig form lined with baking paper.
- Prepare the custard: In a small pan heat milk with a strip of the lemon peel until hot. Add eggs, sugar, and flour into a separate pan and whisk well. Pour in milk, whisk until smooth and cook for 4-5 minutes or until thickened.
- Pour custard over the base and top with chopped strawberries. Crumble the remaining pastry all over the top of the cake and bake in the preheated to 180°C/360°F for 35 minutes.
- Let cool, slice, and enjoy.
