Puff pastry cake: how to prepare a millefeuille with an inimitable taste!

Creamy and beautiful, this dessert is just amazing and will leave everyone speechless!
INGREDIENTS
1 sheet (450g) puff pastry dough
30 ml (2 tbsp) water
30 g (2 tbsp) sugar
60 g (4 tbsp) jam
250 g (1 cup) cream cheese or mascarpone (optional)
500 ml (2 cups) milk
1 pack custard (for 500 ml of milk)
Powdered sugar (for decoration)
METHOD
- Place a puff pastry sheet onto a working surface. Cut out a circle that fits your baking tray. Preserve the offcuts.
- Poke the circle with a fork, brush with water and sprinkle some sugar on top. Transfer onto a baking tray together with cutouts.
- Cut out another circle of the same size from the second sheet of puff pastry.
- Slice it into 8 triangles. Flip each triangle and arrange on a baking tray, leaving some space between them. Brush slices with water and sprinkle some sugar on top.
- Transfer to the preheated to 190C/380F oven and bake for 15-20 minutes.
- When baked, take the offcuts and mash them with a rolling pin. Set aside.
- In a bowl whip milk with a pack of custard according to the package directions.
- Add cream cheese or mascarpone and stir until incorporated.
- Spread the curd on the puff pastry base, sprinkle with the jam and arrange triangles on top.
- Spread the remaining curd on the sides of the cake and sprinkle with reserved puff pastry crumbs.
- Decorate the cake with icing sugar and a spoon of jam.
- Slice and enjoy!
