Cheese sticks: easy to prepare and perfect for a delicious appetizer!

Cheesy and fluffy, these sticks are perfect for a tasty appetizer!
INGREDIENTS
240ml (1 cup) warm milk
7g (1 tbsp) instant yeast
2 eggs
60ml (1/4 cup) sunflower oil
30g (2 tbsp) sugar
540g (3 1/3 cups) flour
3g (1/2 tsp) salt
500g (16 oz) minas cheese
15ml (1 tbsp) milk (for brushing)
METHOD
- In a medium bowl combine warm milk, instant yeast, and sugar, whisk well and let the mixture sit for 10 minutes. Add eggs and oil and whisk until homogeneous.
- To a large bowl add sifted flour and salt, then add yeast mixture and start to mix the dough with a spatula. Then continue to knead it with your hands until you receive an elastic dough.
- Form a ball from the dough and cover with a kitchen cloth or plastic wrap. Allow the dough to rise for 2 hours in a warm place.
- Slice the cheese into small long blocks and drain with paper towels.
- Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured working surface and divide it into 2 parts.
- Roll the dough into an oval shape and cut into 1,5cm-wide stripes.
- Wrap dough stripes around cheese blocks.
- Arrange cheese skewers onto a baking tray, cover with a kitchen cloth and let rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 200C/400F.
- Brush the top of the raised skewers with milk and bake for 15-30 minutes.
