Struwen: the German recipe for soft and delicious fritters!

You only need a few ingredients to make fluffy sweet fritters without an oven!

INGREDIENTS

350ml (1 1/2 cups) milk

30g (1/8 cup) sugar
20g fresh yeast

500g (3 1/3 cups) flour

a pinch of salt

30g (2 tbsp) butter

2 eggs

125g (3/4 cup) chocolate chips

Oil for frying

METHOD

In a bowl add the milk, sugar, yeast and mix well, and set aside for 15 minutes.
In another bowl add the flour, salt, yeast mixture and mix with the mixer. Cover with a cloth and let it rest for 10 minutes.
Uncover the cloth, add the butter, eggs and mix with the mixer. Cover with cloth again and let it rest for 15 minutes.
Uncover the cloth, add the chocolate chips and mix with the mixer. Cover with a cloth and let it rest for 10 minutes before frying.
Take the spoonful of the mixture, oil the hands, and create the fritter's shape. Fry in deep oil on both sides until golden.
