Braid fritters: sweet and delicious!
published on 6 July, 2021 at 16:01
INGREDIENTS
250ml (1 cup) milk
30g (2 tbsp) butter, melted
20g (1/8 cup) sugar
1 egg
7g (1 1/2 tsp) dry yeast
550g (3 1/4 cups) flour
A pinch of salt
500 ml (2 cups) vegetable oil (for frying)
Sugar (for coating)
METHOD
- In a medium bowl combine milk, butter, egg, sugar and a pinch of salt and whisk well.
- Add the dry yeast and continue to whisk.
- To the large bowl add sifted flour, then add yeast mixture and start to mix the dough with a spatula. Then continue to knead it with your hands until you receive an elastic dough.
- Form a ball from the dough and cover the bowl with a kitchen cloth or plastic wrap, Allow the dough to rise twice in a warm place.
- Transfer the dough to the working surface, knead a bit and roll it into a square shape with a rolling pin. Divide into 10 long pieces and form long shape pieces.
- Now you'll need chopsticks to form fritters. Shape one piece of dough between chopsticks in a zigzag braid shape. Widen chopsticks a bit and take them out of a fritter. Continue with the remaining dough.
- Arrange fritters on a tray and let them sit for 10 minutes more.
- Heat cooking oil in a pot over medium heat and fry fritters for 2 minutes on each side.
- Coat braid fritters in sugar and enjoy!
