Christmas Pudding: the delicious traditional Anglo-Saxon dessert perfect for impressing guests!

INGREDIENTS
230g (2 cups) breadcrumbs
120g (1 cup) all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp mixed spices
1 tsp ground ginger
8g (1/2 tbsp) baking powder
230g butter
230g (1 1/4 cups) brown sugar
4 eggs
1 pack Christmas fruit mix
1 apple (grated)
Zest of 1/2 orange
Juice of 1/2 orange
110ml (1/2 cup) whiskey
240ml (1 cup) stout
For decoration:
Currants
Powdered sugar
METHOD
1. In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, flour, cinnamon, mixed spices, ground ginger, and baking powder.
2. In a mixing bowl, add the butter and sugar and beat with an electric mixer until the sugar dissolves. Add the eggs one at a time and continue mixing.
3. Add the dry ingredients to the mixing bowl and mix with the electric mixer until incorporated.
4. Add the Christmas fruit mix, grated apple, orange zest and juice, whiskey, and stout. Mix until well combined.
5. Pour the mixture into a buttered pudding bowl. Cover with parchment paper and a layer of kitchen foil, securing it tightly with string.
6. Place a pot on the heat and set the pudding bowl inside. Pour in boiling water to come halfway up the bowl, cover with a lid, and steam for 6 hours, topping up with boiling water as needed. Allow to cool overnight.
7. Once set, transfer the Christmas pudding onto a serving dish and decorate with currants and powdered sugar. Slice and serve.
