Garlic sfogliatella: perfect for lunch or dinner!

INGREDIENTS
7g (0.2 oz) dry yeast;
¼ cup warm water;
1 tsp sugar;
½ cup milk;
1 egg;
3 tbsp olive oil;
½ tsp salt;
1 tbsp white vinegar;
3 cups flour;
½ tsp baking powder;
½ cup butter, softened;
2 garlic cloves, minced;
Sliced scallions;
Cream cheese to taste.
METHOD
- Whisk sugar and yeast in warm water. Set aside until bubbly.
- In a separate bowl whisk milk with eggs, salt, vinegar and olive oil.
- Combine flour with baking powder and pour yeast and milk mixtures in. Knead until smooth dough forms and set it aside until doubled in size.
- Mix soft butter with salt, pepper and garlic.
- Cut the dough into quarters, roll each piece out and brush with soft butter. Top with sliced scallions.
- Stack the dough sheets on top of each other and then roll everything tightly.
- Slice the log into 10 pieces, flatten with your hands and add some cream cheese in the middle. Fold in half and pinch the sides.
- Brush each bun with some butter and set aside for 20 minutes, then bake at 200C/400F for 10-12 minutes.
