Italian chocolate chiacchiere: sweet Carnival fritters!

Mardi Gras fritters, also known as bugie and frappe, are a must in Italy during the Carnevale celebrations! Crunchy and tasty, following this recipe will make it easy to prepare them at home.
They can be oven baked or fried, cover them in chocolate and top them with a very popular cookie to make them even tastier
INGREDEINTS
1 egg
130g flour
salt
2 tbsp sugar
3 tsp vegetable oil
vanilla essence

150g milk chocolate
cookies
star-shaped sprinkles
cookies
star-shaped sprinkles
METHOD
1. Beat together the eggs and sugar. Add the oil and salt.
2. Gradually add the flour and vanilla essence.
3. Mix until a soft dough has formed.
4. Roll out the dough, cut out some rectangles.
5. Cut two slits in each rectangle.
6. Brush some water over each chiacchiera, this will avoid them getting too dry if you decide to bake them (they can also be fried).
7. Let them cool, then cover them in melted milk chocolate.
8. Top each chiacchiera with a cookie. Let the chocolate set.
9. Serve after about an hour.
