Pepperoni tart: a surprisingly savory recipe!

Ingredients:
½ onion, chopped;
150 g (5 oz) mushrooms, chopped;
2 garlic cloves, sliced;
1 cup tomato sauce;
2 tbsp pickled chili pepper, chopped;
14 slices salami;
1 sheet pie dough;
1 pie crust;
1 tbsp olive oil;
1 cup mozzarella cheese.

Instructions
Preheat oven to 180C (350F).
Blind bake pie crust until golden for about 20-25 minutes.
Meanwhile cover a sheet of pie pastry with salami slices, roll and cut into circles.
Make sauce base by sautéing onion, mushrooms, garlic and pepper for 10 minutes. Season to taste, add tomato sauce and stir.
Sprinkle half of the cheese on top of pie crust. Add half of tomato sauce and repeat layers again.
Add salami rounds on top to cover the filling completely.
Bake for 40-45 minutes.
