Bread cubes with chocolate sauce: to be served with chocolate sauce!

A delicious treat for the whole family!

INGREDIENTS

For the dough:
500g (4 cups) flour
2 tbsp sugar
7g of dry yeast
a pinch of salt
1 egg
100ml (1/2 cup) vegetable oil
300ml (1 1/4 cups) milk
 
For the sauce:
40g vanilla pudding powder
200g melted chocolate
3 tbsp sugar
12g vanilla sugar
800ml milk
 
METHOD
  1. In a bowl, combine the yeast, milk, 1Tbsp flour, 1 tsp sugar, and whisk to combine.
  2. Cover and leave to rise for 10 minutes.
  3. Pour the risen mixture into a bowl and add 2 tbsp sugar and a pinch of salt.
  4. Add the oil, egg, and remaining flour to the bowl and mix to form a sticky dough. Leave the dough to proof for 30 minutes.
  5. Place the dough onto a lightly floured surface, add some more flour on top, and roll into a large rectangle.
  6. Place onto a large baking tray and use a pizza cutter to cut out a grid, where the cubes measure about 3cm by 3cm
  7. Brush lightly with oil, then bake at 180° for 20 minutes
  8. For the sauce, combine the milk, sugar, vanilla sugar, and essence in a saucepan and whisk over low heat.
  9. Once combined, pour into a bowl and dip a cube of freshly baked bread in for a delicious sweet treat!
