Semlor: how to make a delicious Swedish dessert at home!

 Try this easy recipe for a deliciously sweet treat!

INGREDIENTS
200ml / 0.8 cup milk
420g / 3.4 cups flour (all purpose)
10g dry yeast
1 egg
½ tsp salt
5g ground cardamom
100g / 0.44 cup butter
90g / 0.4 cup sugar
 
200g almonds
200g / 1 cup sugar
60ml / 0.25 cup Water
 
500ml / 2.13 cups custard
 
Whipped cream
Powdered sugar
 
METHOD
  1. Mix all ingredients and knead the dough. Divide it into 14 pieces and form into buns. Place the buns on a baking sheet with parchment paper. Let rise for 1 hour. Bake for 10 minutes at 180 ° C / 350 ° F.
  2. In a blender, beat the almonds with sugar and water. Add the custard and stir. Make cuts in each bun. Fill the buns with almond filling. Squeeze whipped cream on top and cover with a sliced ​​bun. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
