Ingredients:For the candles:
320 g (11 oz) flour;
120 g (4 oz) butter, softened;
100 g (3.5 oz) sugar;
1 egg;
1 egg yolk;
1 tsp cinnamon;
1 tsp vanilla extract;
2 cups vanilla pudding;
1 cup white chocolate, melted;
1 cup hazelnuts, crushed.
For the candy:
5 tbsp sugar;
2 tbsp water.
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 180C/350F. To make cones for the pastry (if not using store-bought) make tubes out of tin foil and fill it with parchment to hold its shape.
Whisk butter, sugar, egg yolk and a whole egg, add flour and spices. Knead until smooth, cover with plastic wrap and let sit in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
Roll out the pastry and cut into 10x14 cm (4x5.5 inch) rectangles. Wrap each pastry piece around the tube and secure with a little bit of water.
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until slightly golden. Let cool down completely and remove the tube.
Cover each candle with white chocolate and sprinkle crushed nuts on top. Set aside.
Meanwhile make candy flames by heating sugar and water together until golden caramel forms.
Place toothpicks on top of the parchment paper and pour a small portion of caramel to make a Β«flameΒ» on the tip of each toothpick. Let set completely.
Fill each pastry tube with vanilla pudding and insert the candy flame on top.
