How to store tomatoes: the trick to keep them fresh

In summer, many tomatoes are consumed because they are fresh and ideal for pasta, salad, with mozzarella. But what is the right way to store them and keep fresh for a long time? There are several but this is certainly one of the easiest: wash and dry the tomatoes, then put them in a container with two kitchen towels (use one for the base an another one to cover them).
