Chocolate pie: the result is irresistible!

This recipe is a deliciously simple staple for every home baker!

INGREDIENTS
For the pastry:
 170 g (6 oz) flour;
 150 g (5 oz) sugar;
 1 egg;
 150 g (5 oz butter), room temp;
 30 g (1 oz) cocoa powder;
 1 tsp baking powder;
 a pinch of salt;
 1 package vanilla powder.
 
For the chocolate cream:
 50 g (1.7 oz sugar);
 2 egg yolks;
 15 g (0.5 oz) flour;
 1 tsp cornstarch;
 1 package vanilla powder;
 200 g (7 oz) dark chocolate, melted;
 130 ml (4.5 oz) cream.
 
METHOD
  1. Start with the pastry by combining all of the dry ingredients and then adding butter and egg.
  2.  Mix everything by hand until uniform, then cover and set aside for 1 hour.
  3.  To make pastry cream whisk egg yolks and sugar until pale. Add cornstarch, vanilla and flour, then mix again until smooth.
  4.  Pour hot milk into the yolk mixture slowly, while whisking constantly. Transfer the mixture on a low heat and cook, whisking nonstop, until thickens.
  5.  Combine melted chocolate with warm cream and add into the yolk and milk base. Cover and set aside to cool slightly.
  6.  Roll out 2/3 of the cold pie pastry and place it into a 20cm/8-inch round cake pan covering the bottom and the sides. Trim any excess.
  7.  Use leftover pastry to make strips for pie décor.
  8.  Pour chocolate cream onto a base, decorate as shown on the video and bake 180C/350F for 40 minutes.
