Pan brioche Christmas tree: the filling dessert easy to prepare!
published on 10 December, 2021 at 19:31
Here is one of our favorite Christmas recipe! A super soft brioche bread, stuffed with chocolate!
INGREDIENTS
450g (3 1/2 cups) flour
70g (1/3 cup) sugar
7g (1 1/2 tsp) dry yeast
a pinch of salt
30g (2 tbsp) butter, softened
250ml (1 cup) warm milk
2 egg yolks
250g (1 cup) hazelnut cream
5g (1 tsp) vegetable oil
eggwash
Powdered sugar (for decoration)
METHOD
- In a bowl combine all the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. To the same bowl add wet ingredients: softened butter, milk, and egg yolks.
- Using a spatula or a fork bind all the ingredients together and then using your hands form the mixture into a dough.
- Place obtained dough on the floured working surface and knead it for approximately 10 minutes or until smooth.
- Pour some vegetable oil into a bowl and grease the dough in it, cover with a kitchen cloth or plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Divide the dough into 4 parts and roll each piece into a triangle shape.
- Arrange one piece of the triangle-shaped dough on a working surface and spread it all over with hazelnut cream. Don't spread the cream on the bottom of the triangle, except in the middle which is the tree trunk.
- Top with the second triangle shape and spread with hazelnut cream again. Repeat with the remaining dough and cream but don’t top the last triangle with hazelnut cream.
- Using a sharp knife, cut along both sides of the ‘dough tree’ to form nice straight edges and form the ‘trunk’ by cutting off the excess dough at the bottom.
- Mark two imaginary lines from the trunk to the top. Make cuts from the imaginary line to the edge at about 2 cm intervals all the way to the top, on both sides of the “tree”.
- Take each “tree branch”, twist towards the top of the tree, and lay it back down. Continue until all the pieces have been twisted.
- Cover the “tree” with a damp cloth and leave to rise in a warm place for 40 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F. Brush the egg wash over the tree and place in the oven for 15 minutes or until golden.
- Allow to cool slightly, transfer on a serving tray. Sprinkle some icing sugar on top and serve!
