Italian Christmas zeppole: a real treat you'll fall in love with!

INGREDIENTS
• 500g flour
• 750ml water
• 3 bay leaves
• Salt
• Oil
• Sugar
 
METHOD
  1. Add water to a pot, add the bay leaves, salt and oil. Wait for it to boil.  Add the flour and mix.
  2. Spread oil over the board to stop the dough from sticking. Then knead the mixture until you get a
    dough.
  3. Cut small pieces and make a long strip with each piece. Fold over itself to make a figure of 8 shape.
  4. Use the tip of a wooden spoon to know if oil is very hot and ready for frying.
  5. Place the fritters in the oil and fry. Cover each one with sugar.
