A tasty appetizer ready in minutes!
INGREDIENTS
INGREDIENTS
For the dough:
200g (1 1/4 cup) flour
10 g (1 1/2 tbsp) sugar
2,5 g (1/2 tsp) salt
10 ml (2 tsp) vegetable oil
120 ml (1/2 cup) milk
7g (1 1/2 tsp) dry yeast
For the filling:
tomato, diced + Mozzarella, diced
ham, diced + Mozzarella, diced
potato (baked or fried) + Mozzarella, diced
For coating:
1 egg
Breadcrumbs
For frying:
Vegetable oil (for frying)
METHOD
- In a mixing bowl combine flour, sugar, sea salt and dry yeast.
- Add milk and oil to the bowl and stir with a spatula or wooden spoon.
- Knead for a few minutes till the dough combines and you receive an elastic dough.
- Cover the bowl with a kitchen cloth or plastic wrap, and allow the dough to rise twice in a warm place.
- Transfer the dough to a working surface and divide it into 6 parts.
- Shape each piece into a ball. Cover balls with a kitchen cloth or plastic wrap and leave for 15 minutes.
- Take a ball, flatten it a bit and roll into a circle. Add filling to the center of the circle, pull the edges together and form a calzone. Continue with the remaining dough and fillings.
- In a bowl beat an egg. Dip each calzone in egg and cover with breadcrumbs.
- Arrange calzones on a tray and let sit for 30 minutes.
- Heat cooking oil in a pot to 160C/320F.
- Fry calzones, one at a time, for 2 minutes on each side.
Arrange calzones on the paper towel to drain any excess fat. Serve and enjoy!
