Cabbage cake: the ideal for a rustic dinner!

The best way to cook cabbage!

INGREDIENTS
 1 large savoy cabbage;
 500g (1 pound) minced chicken;
 1 onion, chopped;
 1 carrot, chopped;
 1 bell pepper, chopped;
 olive oil for frying;
 2 garlic cloves, minced;
 100g (1 cup) cheese, shredded;
 300g (1 ¼ cup) tomato sauce;
 350g (2 cups) cooked rice;
 1 egg;
 Salt and pepper.
 
METHOD
  1.  Pell leaves of savoy cabbage and blanches them in boiling water for 3-4 minutes.
  2.  Heat some olive oil in a large pan and cook minced chicken for 5 minutes, until pale and cooked through.
  3.  Transfer meat into a bowl then uses the same pan to cook vegetables for 5-7 minutes.
  4.  Mix vegetables, chicken, garlic, salt, pepper, cheese, egg and cooked rice together. Pour in ⅔ of the sauce, mix through.
  5.  Layer cabbage leaves into a 20 cm round cake pan to cover the bottom and sides. Spread half of the filling, cover with more cabbage leaves and add the leftover filling on top.
  6.  Add cabbage leaves to cover all the filling, then bake at 180C/350F for 40 minutes.
  7.  Flip onto a serving dish and top with tomato sauce and cheese.
