Cabbage cake: the ideal for a rustic dinner!

The best way to cook cabbage!
INGREDIENTS

1 large savoy cabbage;
500g (1 pound) minced chicken;
1 onion, chopped;
1 carrot, chopped;
1 bell pepper, chopped;
olive oil for frying;
2 garlic cloves, minced;
100g (1 cup) cheese, shredded;
300g (1 ¼ cup) tomato sauce;
350g (2 cups) cooked rice;
1 egg;
Salt and pepper.
METHOD
- Pell leaves of savoy cabbage and blanches them in boiling water for 3-4 minutes.
- Heat some olive oil in a large pan and cook minced chicken for 5 minutes, until pale and cooked through.
- Transfer meat into a bowl then uses the same pan to cook vegetables for 5-7 minutes.
- Mix vegetables, chicken, garlic, salt, pepper, cheese, egg and cooked rice together. Pour in ⅔ of the sauce, mix through.
- Layer cabbage leaves into a 20 cm round cake pan to cover the bottom and sides. Spread half of the filling, cover with more cabbage leaves and add the leftover filling on top.
- Add cabbage leaves to cover all the filling, then bake at 180C/350F for 40 minutes.
- Flip onto a serving dish and top with tomato sauce and cheese.
