Orange upside-down cake: an aromatic dessert that will delight you!
published on 9 March, 2017 at 10:37
The orange upside-down cake is moist, aromatic and healthy. It makes for a great snack and an even better breakfast with a glass of milk.INGREDIENTS
3 eggs
1 tsp of baking powder
250g sugar
250g flour
150ml orange juice
1 orange, sliced
40g brown sugar
DIRECTIONS
Beat the eggs adding the sugar a little at a time. Once the mixture is whipped well (this will take at least 10 minutes) add the orange juice, sifted flour and add the baking powder in last. Butter your cake pan and sprinkle two spoons of brown sugar on the base. Cover the base of the pan with the unpeeled orange slices (be sure to use untreated oranges). Pour the batter over the orange slices. Bake at 170°C for 35/40 minutes. Not all ovens are the same so check with a toothpick to make sure the cake is ready. Let it cool for about 15 minutes and then flip it over onto a serving dish. Dust with some powdered sugar and enjoy it for breakfast! You can also slice it into two layers and spread some orange or apricot marmalade in the center.
