Panettone, the Milanese delicacy that smells like Christmas
published on 20 December, 2023 at 18:00
Did you know that panettone was invented by mistake right here in Milan?
The legend says that around the 15th century, a guy named Tony saved Christmas by inventing a new cake for the Duke of Milan Ludovico Il Moro putting together the leftover ingredients after the court’s chef burnt the cake.
This new delicacy was called The Bread of Tony - Pan de Tony and later became Panettone.
