Apple crumble cake: this is the perfect fall treat!

Densely fruity with an irresistible crumb, this is wonderful Apple crumb cake recipe is great served with ice cream.
INGREDIENTS

For the pastry:
250 g (8.8 oz) cottage cheese;
1 egg;
½ tsp salt;
350 g (12.3 oz) flour;
250 g (8.8 oz) butter.
For the apples:
4 apples;
100 g (3.5 oz) dates, pitted, pureed;
40 g (1.4 oz) walnuts, chopped;

METHOD
- Preheat oven to 180C/350F.
- For the pastry rub butter, flour and salt together until crumbs form. Add an egg and cottage cheese and mix until uniform pastry forms.
Form the pastry into a ball, wrap in plastic and let sit in the fridge for around 30 minutes to 1 hour. - For the filling peel and core each apple and cut in half.
- Combine chopped apples with pureed dates and fill each empties apple core with the mixture.
- Cut 2/3 of the pastry, roll it out and place into a rectangular pie dish covering the bottom and sides of it.
- Coat each apple half with cinnamon sugar and place cut side down on a pastry base.
- Cover the pie with leftover 1/3 of rolled out pastry. Decorate to your liking and brush with egg wash.
- Bake for 1 hour and let cool down completely before serving.
