published on 13 January, 2023 at 14:10
INGREDIENTS
21g of fresh yeast
50g (1/4 cup) of sugar
200ml (3/4 cup) of milk
400g (3 1/4 cups) of flour
A pinch of salt
60g (1/4 cup) of butter (melted)
4g (1 tsp) of vanilla extract
Milk for brushing
Butter (melted) for brushing
Sugar
METHOD
1. In a bowl add the yeast, sugar, and milk and mix until the sugar and yeast dissolve.
2. Add the flour, salt, butter (melted), and vanilla essence and mix to combine well. When the dough starts to form knead with your hands until the dough is smooth. Cover with cling film and let it rise for 1 hour, or until doubles in volume.
3. After time has elapsed remove the dough from the bowl and transfer it to the working surface. Split the dough into 6 equal pieces and form the balls.
4. Roll out each ball with your hands to create the stick. Form the pretzel shape and transfer the pretzels to the baking tray covered with parchment paper. Cover and let it rise for 20 minutes.
5. After 20 minutes brush the pretzels with milk and transfer them to the oven. Bake at 180°C/360°F for 20 minutes.
6. Brush the pretzels with butter after baking and dip the cover top part with the sugar and serve.
