Make your Carnival party sweeter by preparing these fantastic pinwheels!
published on 22 March, 2024 at 09:41
INGREDIENTS
280g (2 1/4 cups) of flour
40g (1/4 cup) of powdered sugar
30g (1/4 cup) of butter (melted)
35ml (2 1/4 tbsp) of strega liqueur
2 eggs
A pinch of salt
Vanilla extract
Lemon (zest)
Orange (zest)
Oil for frying
Hazelnut cream
Colorful candies
Powdered sugar
METHOD
1. In a bowl add the flour and powdered sugar and whisk. Add the butter (melted), Strega liqueur, eggs, salt, vanilla extract, lemon (zest) and orange zest and mix. When dough starts to form knead it with your hands to obtain compact dough. Wrap it in cling film and let it rest for 30 minutes.
2. After elapsed, transfer the dough to the working surface and roll it out. Cut it out into squares of about 10 cm.
3. Cut the corners with a knife, without reaching the center of the dough, and then cut 4 triangles. Take the edge of the triangle and bend it towards the middle by pressing with your finger to obtain the pinwheel.
4. Transfer them to the pan with hot oil and fry them on both sides until golden brown.
5. Make a small drop of hazelnut cream in the center of each pinwheel and place a chocolate sprinkle on top.
6. Serve them on a serving plate and decorate them with powdered sugar.
