These Apple Cookies are easy to make and is the perfect dessert recipe for fall. Both children and adults will love them. The texture of the cookie is soft, chewy on the inside, almost cake-like. The edges are slightly crispy and the chocolate chips inside add just enough sweetness.

To make it, you will need a few pantry staples like flour, sugar, and eggs. And some extras like apples, chocolate chips, and cinnamon. You simply mix the batter, add the chocolate chips and apples, and bake scoops of batter until cooked through. These easy apple cookies will be your new favorite for the fall season!

Apple Chocolate Chip Cookie Ingredients

Apples – use any apple variety you have on hand (Granny Smith apples, Honeycrisp, Golden Delicious, Braeburn, etc. will all work).

Sugar – in this recipe we used white granulated sugar, but feel free to use dark or light brown sugar

Chocolate chips – use unsweetened chocolate chips

Eggs – use large eggs that are at room temperature

Butter – use unsalted or salted butter (if using unsalted butter, add a pinch of salt to the batter)

Milk – use full-fat milk for best results

Baking powder – use baking powder, and not baking soda!

Potato starch – it works in the same way that cornstarch does. It improves crispness and creates a more delicate texture.

How To Make Apple Cookies

Make the batter. Add the sugar and butter into a large mixing bowl and mix with an electric mixer until thick and fluffy. Add the egg and continue to whip until the mixture is frothy and all ingredients are fully combined. Now add the flour, potato starch, baking powder, and cinnamon, and continue to mix.

Prepare the apple. Peel the apple, cut it into small cubes and add it to the mixture. Add the chocolate chips to the batter and mix everything with the spatula. Use two spoons to transfer the apple batter to a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Bake until golden and cooked through.

Tips For Making Easy Apple Cookies

This recipe will work with gluten-free flour.

Don’t feel like chocolate chips? Use raisins, cranberries, shredded coconut, or caramel chips instead. If using coconut, don’t add too much as it will make the cookie dry.

Make your own apple spice blend to use instead of the cinnamon. Simply mix together 4 parts teaspoons of cinnamon, 1 teaspoon each of nutmeg, ginger, and cardamom, and 1/2 teaspoon of allspice. Store the spice in an airtight jar.

Use light brown or dark brown sugar if you want a more prominent caramel flavor

Adding a drizzle to these apple cookies will make them just as pretty as they taste. Try any of the following drizzles:

  • Caramel sauce (store-bought or make your own)
  • Apple spice icing drizzle: mix ¾ cup icing sugar, 4 teaspoons lemon juice, and 1/8 teaspoon apple pie spice (or pumpkin spice).
  • Cream Cheese Frosting Glaze

How To Store Apple Chocolate Chip Cookies

Store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.

Can You Freeze Apple Cookie Dough?

The Apple Cookie dough can be frozen for up to 3 months.
