Fruit popsicles are synonymous with summertime! This is an easy, refreshing, and colorful dessert recipe which is perfect for summer. Unlike store-bought popsicles, there are no additives or artificial flavors, so they're so much healthier! You control the sugar in the popsicles, so it’s not overly sweetened in comparison to store-bought popsicles.

These Fruit Popsicles are easy to make. The flavor is sweet and fruity, while the texture is smooth and icy. They’re made by blending the fruit mixture (fruit, lemon juice, and sugar), then freezing until they’re solid.

You don’t need any fancy popsicle molds for this recipe if you don't have them. Simply grab a few paper cups and you’re good to go! It’s easy to switch up the recipe by using other fruits and flavorings, so let your imagination run wild!

Homemade Fruit Popsicle Ingredients

Fruit – use any of your favorite fruits (you can even use a combination).

Sugar – we used powdered sugar, but see our tips below for alternatives.

Lemons – both the zest and lemon juice are used.

How To Make Fruit Popsicles

These fruit popsicles are quick and easy to make. Simply blend the fruit with lemon juice and powdered sugar, pour it into the mold, and freeze!

How Long Should You Freeze Fruit Popsicles?

The popsicles need to freeze for at least 5 hours, although it’s best to leave them overnight. Don’t forget to insert the popsicles while the mixture is still slightly unfrozen.

Fruit Popsicle Variations

This recipe will work with many different fruits: try watermelon, mango, berries, or pineapple.

For a coconut flavor, add coconut cream. For creamy popsicles, you can also add banana or yogurt. Combine the fruits with ½ cup Greek yogurt, 1/3 cup coconut milk, and ½ tsp vanilla extract.

Instead of sugar, you can sweeten the popsicles naturally with maple syrup, honey, or agave nectar.

For texture, feel free to add dried fruit (raisins, dried cranberries, or chopped apricots), cake sprinkles, or sweetened shredded coconut to the fruit puree before freezing.

Classic fruit popsicle combination to try:

  • Basil and strawberry
  • Mint and watermelon
  • Pineapple and coconut
  • Blueberry and lemon

Yogurt And Juice Addition Ideas

While the recipe will work with only fruit and lemon juice, you can also experiment by adding other fruit juices (like guava, grape, or apple juice). This will also create a popsicle that doesn’t melt so quickly. It also creates a great variety of flavors.

If you like coconut, you can even add coconut water!

You can also add yogurt to increase protein and make the popsicles creamier.

Tips

If you’re struggling to remove the fruit popsicles from the paper cups, you can run a bit of warm water around them. The water shouldn’t be too hot, otherwise, the popsicles will melt!

Leave some of the fruit pieces whole for extra texture.

How To Store Homemade Fruit Popsicles

These Homemade Fruit Popsicles can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months. Simply keep them in the popsicle molds and take them out as you want.
