Looking for an easy dessert recipe that you can whip up in minutes? This recipe for Puff Pastry Apple Tarts is just what you need. They’re easy to make with ingredients you probably already have on hand. Not only that, they’re pretty too! Unexpected guests? Sweet craving? Not a problem with these tasty bites. You simply wrap puff pastry around apple slices, and bake! As easy as that! You get the crispy pastry on the outside and soft apple on the inside. Serve the Puff Pastry Apple Tarts with fresh cream, ice cream, a drizzle of chocolate, or caramel sauce—or enjoy them straight out of the oven!

Tips.

If you want to make a large batch, place the apple slices in a bowl of cold water with a splash of lemon juice to prevent browning.

Use firm, tart apples—Honeycrisp, Gala, Fuji, or Granny Smith will all work.

Don’t feel like powdered sugar? Top the puff pastry apple tarts in other ways:

Drizzle with a cream cheese glaze: mix 4 ounces of cream cheese, room temperature, 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar (or powdered sugar), sifted 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract, and 3 to 4 tablespoons milkToss with cinnamon sugar made from 1/4 cup granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon cinnamon.Drizzle with chocolate sauce or caramel sauce (like dulce de leche)

The pastry should be completely thawed so it’s pliable enough to roll out but still cold. The best is to leave it to thaw overnight in the fridge instead of leaving it on the kitchen counter at room temperature.

If the pastry is too warm, it won’t puff enough. To make sure you get a nice puff, place the formed flowers in the fridge for half an hour.

The oven should be hot (about 180°–200°C/375°-400°F), but not so hot that the pastry flowers burn. If you see they brown too quickly, you can place a sheet of foil loosely on top.

How To Store Puff Pastry Apple Tarts.

Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days. Keep them in an airtight container.

Can I Make It Ahead of Time?

The Puff Pastry Apple Tarts will become soggy if they’re not eaten immediately!

If you want to do some prep work beforehand, slice the apples and place them in a bowl of water with a splash of lemon juice (to prevent browning). Thaw the puff pastry in the fridge.
