published on 9 February, 2023 at 16:00
INGREDIENTS
4 eggs
250g (1 1/4 cups) of sugar
250g (1 cup) of vanilla yogurt
120g (1/2 cup) of butter (melted)
Vanilla essence
1 lemon (zest)
250g (2 cups) of all-purpose flour
100g (3/4 cup) of cornstarch
16g (1 tbsp) of baking powder
Red food coloring
METHOD
1. In a bowl add the eggs and sugar and mix with the electric mixer until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is frothy. Add the yogurt, butter (melted), vanilla essence, lemon (zest), flour, cornstarch, and baking powder, and mix all together well.
2. Split the mixture (about 300 grams of the batter) and add the red food coloring. Pour the mixture into the cake mold (19x19cm - mold size) and transfer to the oven. Bake at 170°C/338°F for 15 minutes.
3. Remove from the oven and let it cool, and cut out the hearts with a cookie cutter.
4. Pour half of the mixture into the cake mold (25x10cm - mold size) lined with parchment paper and insert red hearts in the middle. Cover with another half of the batter.
5. Transfer the cake to the oven and bake at 180°C/360°F for 40 minutes.
6. Unmold the cake after baking, cut on slices, and serve.
