published on 18 May, 2023 at 22:40
INGREDIENTS
500g (4 cups) of flour
150g (3/4 cup) of sugar
Cinnamon
10g (2 tsp) of baking powder
A pinch of salt
1 orange (zest)
2 eggs
50ml (1/4 cup) of milk
50ml (1/4 cup) of seed oil
50ml (1/4 cup) of orange juice
Oil for frying
Sugar
METHOD
1. In a bowl add the flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, salt, and orange (zest) and mix with a spatula. Add the eggs, milk, seed oil, and orange (juice) and continue mixing. When the dough starts to form knead the dough to obtain a smooth dough.
2. Transfer the dough to the working surface and split it into pieces. Roll out each piece into a stick shape and cut it into small pieces (about 15 grams). Roll them out into balls.
3. Transfer to the pot with hot oil and fry until they are golden brown. Cover castagnole with sugar and serve.
