Cheese, seafood, and potatoes come together in this delicious recipe in the form of a Seafood Potato Au Gratin. Gratin is made from many dishes, and it’s actually just a fancy term used to describe a technique whereby an ingredient is topped with cheese (and sometimes breadcrumbs) and then baked until golden. While baking the cheese becomes gooey, caramelized, and delicious!

This Seafood Potato Au Gratin is an easy main dish. You could call it a sort of seafood scalloped potatoes. The top becomes crispy, while the cheese sauce is creamy inside. The seafood adds amazing flavor, and you will keep coming back for more! It’s easy to customize to your liking and will be a great hit on the holidays.

Tips For Shrimp Potato Au Gratin

You can also add crawfish tails to the shrimp for extra seafood flavor.

If you like spice, use Cajun spice to season the seafood.

For extra crunch, add Panko bread crumbs to the topping with the mozzarella before adding it back in the oven.

If you’re short on time, you can use store-bought cheese sauce and canned clam chowder.

Fresh herbs will add this dish to the next level. Thyme and sage will go exceptionally well with the seafood.

If you prefer cheese with more flavor, you can use mature cheddar.

If you want, you can use fish fillets for the filling too. Cod, salmon, or hake will all work well.

You can also cook the potatoes in the microwave. Simply cook them for 9-12 minutes (covered). Then peel, and slice.

Make sure to cook the seafood until it reaches the safe internal cooking temperature of 145°F (63°C).
