Croque monsieur crown: the perfect appetizer!

Perfect for parties and easy to make in advance!

16 slices toast bread;
16 slices ham;
8 slices cheese;
1 egg yolk;
90 g (3 oz) shredded cheese+extra for topping;
2 tbsp flour;
¼ cup milk.
METHOD
- Cut off crusts from toast bread and pinch 2 slices together. Roll the out flat and repeat with leftover bread slices.
- Place a slice of cheese and 2 slices of ham on top of each bread base. Roll tightly and wrap in plastic. Leave to chill in fridge for 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile make cheese sauce by combining shredded cheese with flour and milk and placing it over the low heat to melt, while stirring constantly.
- Pour into a ramekin and top with more shredded cheese.
- Cut each bread roll into 3 pieces and remove the plastic wrap.
- Place the ramekin with cheese sauce in the middle of parchment covered baking sheet. Surround the ramekin with ham and cheese rolls.
- Bake at 180C/350F for 20 minutes.
