Apple pie: how to make it creamy and delicious!

This recipe is a keeper!

INGREDIENTS
 250 g (2 cups) all-purpose flour;
 1 egg;
 50 g (½ cup) powdered sugar;
 125 g (1 cup) butter, softened;
 a pinch of salt;
 1l (4 cups) premade pastry cream;
 4 apples;
 Liquid honey/apricot jam, almond flakes.
 
METHOD
  1.  Combine softened butter with salt and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
  2.  Add an egg, whisk, and then add the flour.
  3.  When the smooth pastry forms, wrap it in plastic and leave it in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  4.  Meanwhile peel, core and thinly slice the apples.
  5.  Roll out the pastry to cover a large tart pan. Trim off any excess and pierce the bottom of the tart base with a fork.
  6.  Pour pastry cream on top and layer apples.
  7.  Bake for 45 minutes at 200C/400F.
  8.  Leave to cool down completely, then brush with honey or hot apricot jam and decorate with almond flakes.
