How To Make White Truffles

To make the truffle mixture, start by crushing the vanilla wafers. You can do this with a food processor, or place them in a plastic bag and crush them with a rolling pin. Transfer the crumbs to a large mixing bowl.

Melt the white chocolate, then mix it into the wafer crumbs.

Take a spoonful of the truffle mixture and mold it into a ball. Roll in dried coconut. Continue until all the truffle mixture is used.

How To Melt White Chocolate

You can easily melt white chocolate in the microwave. Place the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl, then microwave for 20 seconds at 100% power (or 30 seconds at 50% power). Stir and repeat the process until all the chocolate has melted.

Tips

To prevent the mixture from sticking to your hands, rub your hands with some coconut oil before forming the truffles.

If you live in a warm area, the truffles might be too soft. In this case, you can transfer this mixture to a large plate, and allow it to cool in the refrigerator for about 2 hours.

To make equally-sized truffles, use a small ice cream scoop to measure out the portions.

Instead of rolling the truffles in dried coconut, drizzle with more melted white chocolate and sprinkle them with freeze-dried strawberries.

For added texture, add mini white chocolate chips to the truffle mixture before rolling it into balls. You can play around with other mix-ins too. Try chopped nuts, cranberries, or even caramel bits.

Give the truffles an eggnog twist by adding rum, brandy, or whiskey extract and sprinkling the truffles with a pinch of nutmeg.

How to Store White Truffles

The White Truffles can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Can You Freeze White Truffles

The White Truffles can also be frozen. Place on a baking sheet and freeze for 2 hours. Then transfer to a Ziploc bag and freeze for up to 3 months. Allow softening at room temperature before eating.
