Magic custard cake: three layers of a fluffy dessert

Ingredients:
1/3 cup icing sugar
3 egg yolks
1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted and cool
12 ml water
3/4 tsp vanilla extract
2/3 cup plain flour
1/16 tsp salt
360 ml full-fat milk, slightly warm

3 egg whites
1/4 cup castor sugar
1/4 cup castor sugar
Directions:
Sift icing sugar into mixing bowl, add egg yolks. Add melted butter, water and vanilla extract. Whisk till combined. Sift plain flour into mixture. Add salt and milk. Whisk till evenly mixed. Separately whisk egg whites on high speed till thick foam forms. Add castor sugar. Continue whisking at high speed then add to yolk mixture. Mix with whisk till fully combined.
Pour batter into cake pan. Bake till golden brown, about 50 minutes. Remove cake from oven.
